Second Annual Victor Disc Golf Tournament Benefits Haven House

Disc Golfers from Helena, Butte, Missoula and The Bitterroot played in the second annual Ice Bowl Disc Golf Tournament at the Spiritwood Disc Golf course in Victor on Saturday, February 6. Nineteen players enjoyed the sun and snow on the twenty-two hole course and raised $750 in cash and 172 pounds of food goods for the benefit of Haven House in Hamilton.

The event was sponsored by the Bitterroot Disc Golf Club, the Garden City Flyers and area businesses, including River Street Dance Theater, Mr. Video Productions, Hagan Welding, and Big Sky Brewery.

McCoy Conner won first place with a five under par 115, for the forty hole contest. He won $75 prize money. The total payout was $235 with $185 in the Open division purse, $40 in the Amateur division and $10 in the Women's division.

“It was another great event at Spiritwood. We raised a lot of money with a modest turnout. I was deeply gratified to see so many of the winners tossing some or all of their prize money back to Haven House,” said Nick Mariana of the Spiritwood Disc Golf Club.

The players could purchase mulligans for five dollars each, which accounted for the record amount of money for Haven House. “Some of the flights came in with $60 or $70 in the mulligan kitty,” Mariana said. The course played tough with no under par scores in the first round and only one player finished under par overall, he added.
